What’s the difference between acrylic and metal partial dentures?
Acrylic partials are cost-effective and easy to adjust/add to. Metal (Co-Cr) partials use a slim, rigid framework with precision clasps, typically thinner, more stable and comfortable for long-term wear.
How many appointments will I need?
Usually 2–4 short visits: assessment and planning → impressions/scans → a try-in to check fit and bite → final fit and review. Recent extractions may need a temporary denture and later reline.
How long does it take to get used to new dentures?
Expect an adaptation period of 1–2 weeks for speech and chewing, sometimes longer for full dentures. We’ll fine-tune pressure spots and bite: short follow-ups are normal.
How do I look after my dentures?
Brush dentures daily with a soft brush and non-abrasive cleanser (not regular toothpaste). Soak in recommended cleaner, rinse, and brush gums/tongue to keep tissues healthy.
Will I need relines or replacements?
Gums and bone reshape over time, especially after extractions. Periodic relines restore the fit; eventual replacement may be advised when wear or changes are significant.
Can I sleep in my dentures or use adhesive?
Remove dentures at night to let tissues rest and to clean thoroughly. A small amount of adhesive can help during the settling phase, but good fit, not glue, does the heavy lifting.
