What’s the difference between composite and porcelain veneers?
Composite is artistically layered resin placed directly on the tooth—often minimal or no drilling and same-day results. Porcelain is a thin ceramic shell made in a lab and bonded on—more durable, more stain-resistant and usually 2–3 visits.
Are veneers reversible?
Composite is typically additive and can be adjusted or removed. Porcelain usually requires conservative enamel shaping first, so it isn’t considered fully reversible. We plan to the minimum needed and show a preview before you commit.
How long do veneers last?
With good care, composite often lasts ~3–5+ years; porcelain ~10–15+ years. Bite forces, grinding and home care make a difference—night guards are advised if you clench.
Will my teeth be damaged?
Treatment is conservative. Composite can be no-prep; porcelain prep is kept to a thin enamel reduction where needed for fit and strength. Bonding then seals and protects the tooth surface.
Do veneers stain or chip?
Composite can pick up surface stain and may chip, but it’s quick to polish or repair. Porcelain resists stain and wear very well, though like natural enamel it can chip if overloaded—care and a guard help.
How much do they cost and how many will I need?
